What We Value

Inside Out Therapy is built on a foundation of shared values: connection, trust, authenticity, and respect.

Our Mission

Inside Out focuses on providing respectful, tailored, and meaningful support to neurodivergent children and their families.
“Neurodiversity refers to the virtually infinite neuro-cognitive variability within Earth’s human population. It points to the fact that every human has a unique nervous system with a unique combination of abilities and needs.”

Inside Out acknowledges and refers to neurodiversity as the differences that exist in the way humans process, think, create, and exist in the world. This practice is committed to providing effective support to children and their families through responsive and tailored allied health services.

Inside Out prides itself on offering a workplace where therapists can thrive and prioritise their client care above all else. Inside Out is committed to improving the quality of service offered to the sector by training and building the skills, knowledge, and tool kit of therapists who work at Inside Out. A positive workplace culture is an essential element of ensuring we can deliver a high-quality service to our clients. Supported and regulated therapists offer the best support to the children and families they service.

Our Vision

To embrace neurodiverse children for who they are and empower them to live a valued and meaningful life.

Our Values

In 2023, we carefully consulted with our team members and families to come up with the following list of values because we wanted all our most important people to be part of what we’re building. We’re so grateful to everyone for helping us define IOT’s values so that we can create a more inclusive, supportive space for neurodivergent kids and families.

Connection

Connection is a feeling of alignment and closeness between people which is created through having fun together, sharing interests, deep conversations, and a genuine care and consideration for one another.

For our clients:

  • We build strong relationships with clients which are unique to their needs, interests, and personality by following their lead.
  • We build honest and robust relationships with clients’ families including parents, siblings, grandparents, and other extended family members by listening and validating their unique experiences.
  • We connect with other key members of clients’ support team through seeking out opportunities to collaborate with them.
  • We connect with our clients through play and what makes them light up, smile, laugh, and be their authentic self.
  • We support clients to feel connected to their own body, experiences, and strengths in order to support a positive sense of themselves by providing an engaging and regulating space.

As team members:

  • We make genuine connections with each other as colleagues, professionals, and teammates by prioritising team time over lunch and at team events.
  • We strive to maintain a positive and engaging workplace where everyone is encouraged, supported, and inspired by one another through open channels of communication.
  • We connect as a team to deliver high quality services to our children and families through regular case collaborations and sharing our client experiences.

Trust

Trust is created through a sense of safety and belief in the best qualities, strength, and abilities of others. It is at the core of any relationship.

For our clients:

  • We create a safe and non-judgemental space that enables each family to feel a sense of ease.
  • We see each child and family as the unique individuals that they are and strive to connect in a way that honours their individuality.
  • Through connection and safe relationships each child and family develops trust in IOT and that we will provide the right support for their child and family.
  • Each family member will feel that they can openly and honestly communicate with IOT in a way that fosters trust and connection to enable each child to thrive.

As team members:

  • We have faith and belief in each team member’s ability to do the best they can in their role by respecting their contribution to IOT and our clients.
  • We trust our team to come into work each day ready to give their best in all they do.
  • We trust that our team members will be forthcoming, honest, and transparent in working toward IOT’s vision.
  • We trust that our team will have IOT’s clients, team members, and the wider community’s best interests at heart, and work collaboratively with the whole team.

Authenticity

Authenticity is having a true sense of who you are and not compromising that for others. Authenticity is allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and imperfect, and to embrace who we are as a person.

For our clients:

  • We welcome each child and family to feel safe and comfortable to be their authentic selves.
  • We appreciate open, honest, and transparent conversations about each child and family’s needs, wishes, and dreams.
  • Each staff member strives to connect with all children and families in a way that is honest and authentic to who they are, which enables the relationship to be genuine.

As team members:

  • We encourage each team member to be their authentic and true self in the workplace in a way that honours and respects each other.
  • We strive to have authentic and meaningful connections and relationships in the workplace as this is the foundation to excellent teamwork and support for our families.
  • Our vision personally resonates with each team member, and they possess a genuine connection to our vision and uphold this in all that they do.

Respect

Respect is seeing the individual as a person first and honouring their skills, beliefs, culture and ideas. Respect helps others to feel valued and safe to express themselves in a genuine and authentic way.

For our clients:

  • We open heartedly respect and honour each child and family that engages with IOT.
  • We respect each parent’s rights, opinions, beliefs, and view them as the expert in their child by listening, validating, and supporting this.
  • We respect each child’s own unique sense of autonomy, boundaries, and consent, and will do our utmost to uphold these at all times.

As team members:

  • We respect each other as team members, particularly each person’s unique personality, thoughts, opinions, and beliefs.
  • We respect the rights, opinions, and beliefs of each child and family by listening and validating where they are at in life.
  • We show respect to the physical workplace space along with all the resources and equipment.
