Inside Out Therapy
Inside Out Therapy was founded to meet the demand for more child-focused, neurodiverse-friendly therapy in the north Brisbane area.
We’re big believers in the importance of providing a safe, nurturing workplace for therapists. The work we do with families can sometimes span years — and with happy, supported therapists, our clients get quality, consistent care.
After launching the Kallangur location in 2020, we quickly grew our team of therapists and client list. In late 2021, we launched a second location at Burpengary so we could better cater to older kids and offer more group programs.
Although we’re a relatively new business, we offer a wealth of experience — and we’re always learning. Our founder, Melissa, has spent over 12 years working in Paediatric Occupational Therapy and is supported by a team of OTs, speechies, physiotherapists, counsellors, and allied health assistants, as well as two certified therapy dogs.
Using the neuroscience around sensory and emotional regulation, we’re able to make real differences to the way children play, learn, and connect.
Our (two-legged) therapists are trained in Therapeutic Listening, the Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-based (DIR/Floortime) Model, Trauma-Informed Care, Wilbarger’s Brushing Protocol, Sensory Integration, Parent Coaching, and many other approaches.
Our four-legged therapists (also known as Therapy Dogs!) have engaged in training and learning about interactions with hoomans since they were small puppies. Both of our Therapy Dogs, Luciana and Amigo, have had additional training with a qualified dog trainer and are certified to show that they’re able to support children in therapy.
With a range of therapeutic methods, games, and activities, we tailor each session with challenges that meet your child where they’re at, depending on their interests, abilities, and goals.
At the end of the day, we want the same thing as you: for your child to feel safe, be their authentic self, and achieve their physical, emotional, and social best.
