Hello, my name is Liz and according to my kids I’m the best in my family at doing the voices in stories and building cubbys!
In my role at IOT I support kids towards their goals and I really, REALLY love it. I get to work with children primarily in their ‘real world’ environments. You will find me in schools, daycares, OOSCH’s, homes as well as in the clinic.
I am passionate about play and it’s MAGICAL properties for learning, skill development and connection. I follow a play based, child lead approach where each child’s interests and unique nervous system is respected and getting what it needs to feel good and learn. I love enabling children to feel understood, accepted and safe to be themselves. I especially love my time supporting kids in their daily life, practicing the skills they need to draw on IN the environment they need them.
I am beyond excited to have recently gained registration as an OT to be able to work with families and children at a deeper level very soon! I took a break from OT to explore the world and grow my family so am excited to be back at it again at IOT.
I have completed a certificate of Neurodivergent affirming practices, and undertaken training in Polyvagal Theory, Interoception and Emotional Integration and a training in Nuro affirming approaches to feeding challenges and ARFID. I have previous experience working in disability equipment field and in training roles.
When I have the chance my favourite thing to do is head up to the beach with my family for swimming, digging pits, shell collecting and of course some ice cream!
