Hello, my name is Emily, and I am the Counsellor at the Kallangur clinic here at Inside Out Therapy. I hold a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology), a Graduate Diploma of Psychology, and a Master of Counselling degree. My professional background includes experience in the Mental Health Emergency Department, where I worked closely with individuals in crisis, as well as in family therapy at QUT’s Psychology and Counselling clinic, where I supported families navigating complex interpersonal dynamics.
My passion is in supporting children and families to thrive and achieve their full potential. I take an integrative approach, working from the inside out to understand and address the internal experiences of young people. I believe that parents are the foremost experts on their children, with the child themselves being the ultimate expert on their own experiences. Together, we work collaboratively to empower children to succeed in the world around them.
I utilise a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches in my practice, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches. My sessions are play and child-led, creating a fun, engaging, and effective learning environment for children.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my Labrador puppy, Lucy. When I’m not at the beach with her, I value quiet moments of journaling and meditation to reconnect with myself.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child to foster growth and meaningful relationships.
