Hello! My name is Tamasyn, but you can call me Tammy. I am a proud Neurodivergent Occupational Therapist. I entered the field of Occupational Therapy later in life. I have a background of 15 years experience working in the disabilities sector, youth work, and early childhood education before I decide to pursue Occupational Therapy at university.
I have previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist within the community, working with children diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and global developmental delays, among other presentations. I am passionate about recognising each child’s unique strengths and celebrating their individual qualities. My approach emphasizes making sessions enjoyable and confidence-building, focusing on identifying and nurturing each child’s emerging skills.
I use play—children’s primary occupation—as a key tool in therapy to develop life skills that support healthy, thriving individuals and families. My child-led approach means I tailor sessions to each child’s needs, working from the inside out to help them succeed in daily activities. I believe in embracing neurodivergent individuals for who they are and aim to empower them to lead valued and meaningful lives.
Ask me about my pets, Bella and Ralph. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors in the park or at the beach. My professional interests include sensory integration, which focuses on helping individuals manage their nervous systems and enhance daily functioning. I am committed to supporting children’s mental health and well-being, through meaningful occupations that build their resilience and confidence for life’s challenges. I look forward to seeing you in the clinic!
