Hi, I’m Remitra, a paediatric Occupational Therapist who loves colours and glitter.
Having completed my OT degree in Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, I have collaborated with families from various cultural backgrounds.
I am currently fuelling my passion for mental health. I have worked in Malaysia as a mental health OT for about six years with a multi-disciplinary team filled with professionals from across the globe. I can converse in four different languages and am currently polishing my fifth one now.
I pursued my masters in Professional Counselling in Monash University, Malaysia and became a registered counsellor. I have also completed a postgraduate certificate in Child Mental Health by University of Derby, United Kingdom. Some of the extra courses I took up were Gestalt Language Processing (GLP), Primitive Reflexes, supporting neurodivergent co-regulation & engagement, health promotion and cultural awareness of different communities (Indigenous Australians, Maori and Pasifika).
My years have been filled with experience providing services to children who have CP, ASD, ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, GDD or needing support for school readiness. I previously administered programmes for teenagers by running indoor or outdoor group sessions and workshops for parents and school events in New Zealand.
My career choice was moulded from my love for children and I have been working with them since 2014 as a teacher, holiday programme coordinator and nanny in NZ and Malaysia before I became an Occupational Therapist. I am an OT who practices the neurodivergent-affirming approach (NDA). My sessions are client-centred (child-lead) and I try to adopt holistic strategies as a practitioner.
Most of my free time is filled with floristry, singing and cooking/baking cakes for my loved ones. My latest venture is a blog on ‘Traditional Methods To Be Mentally Nourished’ as I have keen interest in homeopathy and natural ways to heal or preserve mental wellness.
