Occupational Therapist

Katie Ellis

Hello, my name is Katie and I think that I was destined to become a Paediatric Occupational Therapist as I have a playful personality and enjoy connecting with children and young people through play and laughter.

I have had previous experiences working as an Occupational Therapist in the community space with a primary focus on supporting children and young people with a range of diagnosis including Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Global Developmental Delay and Intellectual Disabilities.

I am passionate about creating a safe and engaging space where the children are able to have fun and learn in areas that are meaningful for the child and their families. I believe in using play as a medium to achieve goals that celebrates the individual strengths that each child brings with them. I enjoy working collaboratively with families to identify area that are meaningful for the caregivers and the child and love to see the growth and development of the child over this time as they develop independence in navigating the ups and downs of day-to-day life.

I have completed training in the power of positive parenting and the DIR floortime approach. I am looking forward to explore further training opportunities in the future such as traffic jam in my brain or the alert programme.

I am originally from New Zealand and in my spare time I enjoy spending my time out in the sunshine, reading new books or heading out for a run.
