My name is Andrea (or Andy), and I am a Provisional Psychologist with a special interest in supporting neurodivergent children/adolescents and their families. I have always been drawn to understanding how kids and teens think, learn and experience the world.
I have experience working with children presenting with Autism, ADHD, PDA, Intellectual Disabilities, as well as emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, trauma and social challenges. Through my training and previous roles supporting children and families, I have developed a strong appreciation for neuro-affirming practice and the importance for tailoring interventions to each child’s needs. I love working collaboratively with families to provide practical, supportive strategies that can be implemented across environments.
I am passionate about play-based, child-centred intervention that fosters a safe space for children to express themselves authentically. I enjoy finding fun, creative and engaging ways to help children develop emotional awareness, coping skills, social understanding and self-advocacy skills, while helping parents with tools and strategies to confidently support their child’s development.
My therapeutic approach draws on evidence-based frameworks including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), adapted to meet the developmental needs of children. I also draw on principles from Polyvagal Theory and Attachment Theory to guide my understanding of emotional regulation, and the importance of safe, connected relationships in supporting a child’s wellbeing.
In my personal time, I enjoy painting, drawing, pottery and just about anything crafty 😊
