As a parent of a neurodivergent child, are you finding you need some extra support, beyond our coaching and programs for parents? Many parents also manage their own conditions, such as autism, ADHD, and anxiety. Plus, your parenting journey can be impacted by so many things, from your experience of pregnancy and birth, to early difficulties with your baby, mental health challenges, trauma, and your own childhood.
Get tailored support from a counsellor or occupational therapist to help uncover your specific strengths and challenges that are impacting you at work, at home, and how you show up as a parent. Set and achieve your goals using evidence-based practices and a person-centred, strengths-based approach.
These counselling sessions run for 70 minutes, including 50-mins face-to-face and 20-mins for clinical documentation. Where possible, we book your session for the same time and location (in separate rooms) as your child’s therapy.
Need counselling or therapy to support your whole family? Parents, caregivers, couples, singles, and siblings can benefit from individual and group sessions tailored to their needs and challenges. Work with your own therapist to understand and process complex emotions, strengthen relationships, build practical skills, manage stress, and more.

Note: Our family and adult counselling and therapy options are exclusively available to parents and families with a child already supported by our therapists.
We offer a range of funding options. If your counselling session focuses on your role as a parent, it may be covered under your child’s NDIS plan (self-managed or plan-managed). However, other funding sources may include your own NDIS plan, your Mental Health Care Plan (with medicare rebates for 5-10 sessions per year), Open Arms for Veterans & Families, or rebates from your private health fund. All of our fees are in line with the current NDIS pricing guide. We welcome all enquiries about pricing.
Please note: We no longer accept Chronic Disease Management Plans or Team Care Arrangement Plans.
Our Occupational Therapists and Counsellors offer this service.
Counselling and therapy for parents and family members can provide so many benefits, including:
At this stage, our adult-focused counselling and therapies are exclusively available to parents and family members of children already receiving support from Inside Out Therapy.
Our parent-coaching service is focused on supporting and learning about your child. It’s about teaching and building skills as a parent, and may include educational programs or telehealth calls to discuss what your therapist has uncovered in their sessions with your child. Parent coaching is typically funded under your child’s funding.
However, our parent and family counselling service is focused on supporting your needs first. Depending on how much we focus on your role as a parent, your counselling may be covered under your child’s funding or covered by your own funding (such as your own NDIS plan, your Mental Health Care Plan, Open Arms for Veterans & Families, or private health).
We offer in-clinic appointments in Aspley (North Brisbane), or we can conduct telehealth consultations via Zoom, Australia-wide.
